Hello, my name is Kian O'Neil. I am a fresh graduate of Morehead State University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree of Science. With my Computer Science major, I coded various projects in C++ and C#, and created several web applications, including my major capstone project, Guidey. With my Visual Communication minor, I created graphics for a lot of different fictional companies and got official Adobe certifications in five major Creative Cloud programs.

Websites produced in college

Software Engineering

The core of this class was to produce a project with two or three other members of the classroom. My group chose to create a Spotify queuing web application named Jukebox. The other two members provided the JavaScript and Python code that made the site work, while I provided HTML and CSS that I created by scratch, also providing graphical items like the service's logo. Here's a slightly outdated version of the HTML skeleton.

Capstone

For my final capstone project, I chose to make a web application named Guidey. I wanted it to have advanced reminder features that other similar television programming guides like TV Guide or Zap2it lacked. Unfortunately, due to time, I wasn't able to get much regarding that in, but I was able to get a working guide out, which my advisor was satisfied with. Due to how NeoCities works, this site can't work properly. Instead, here are some skeleton prototypes.

Wix websites

These are some Wix websites made for two separate classes in my Visual Communication minor: Websites and Graphic Design II. I like the visual UI design for these.

One of the websites we made in the Websites class was for a musical artist of choice. I chose Dan Deacon.

For the Graphic Design II final, I had to do a complete set of branding for another state's tourism board. I chose Ohio, and produced its color scheme, logo, branding guide, and website in the span of just a week right near the end of the semester. Here is that website.

For my Graphic Design I final, I had to reimagine one restaurant chain as a different kind of restaurant. I decided to transform Arby's from a fast food chain to a grungy food truck, using intentionally offset lettering, spray-paint drawings, and a reimagined checklist menu inspired by Which Wich.

Brand Guide | Poster | Menu

I did posters for two clothing brands. Hot Topic focused on their iconic walls of t-shirt displays. Vans Customs focused on all the custom options one could make.

I made up a subscription box for imported Japanese food titled "OMNOMNOM". I made a cute little mascot, named Nom, and created some quirky packaging.

I made a poster for a fake music festival with four parody acts that my instructor had made up (Draft Punk instead of Daft Punk, get it?). I decided to make logos replicating the bands that were being parodied.

Various logo designs for a fake investing app. The only requirements were that the logos must look modern and use the colors blue and green.

Online hobbies

I do a few things on the side.

A Twitter account where I report on news about my favorite TV networks, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, as well as post schedules made in Microsoft Excel. Having ran this account for 6 years, I've gained over 38k followers and recieved acknowledgment and exclusive info from both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.

Since 2015, I have moderated the subreddit for Adult Swim, a night-time network known for its bizarre content and devoted fanbase. I've made years worth of graphics for it, including schedule pics, random weekly promos, goofy joke content, and annual poll results. Some of the content, such as promotions for Reddit AMAs, were made in tandem with Adult Swim's marketing team.

Since 2021, I have been responsible for the graphics for Swimpedia, a fan project that aims to provide a complete compendium for all of Adult Swim. I have been making posters for every single show that had ever aired on Adult Swim, while also making images for the project's Twitter account to advertise new episodes and marathons. The aesthetic is minimal, like the network's own aesthetic, so I have to make sure the artwork really pops.
